NEUS
2023, UI/UX, App & Game Design
Built with Figma, Adobe Indesign, Procreate
Independent Project
I started NEUS from a belief that design and technology, used together, can build a more humane and sustainable future.
The project is centered on Autism Spectrum Disorder, specifically, the reality that verbal impairment in ASD can persist regardless of a person's desire to communicate. That gap between wanting to connect and being able to felt like exactly the kind of problem worth designing toward.
NEUS is an app that combines AI-driven conversation with game-based interaction, built to give verbally disadvantaged users a low-pressure space to practice day-to-day communication. The most important part of the process wasn't the design itself but the research that came before it. I spent the majority of my time investigating the actual needs of this community, so that the decisions I made were grounded in who I was designing for.
The goal was to create a tool that helps users navigate social situations that might otherwise feel overwhelming, and gives them the space to express themselves on their own terms.
